As part of a regular series, we are keeping track of what the Professors of Evangelism are currently doing.
The fact is, summer is definitely not VACATION for the Professors, and we would like to share some of what they are doing on that "time off".
Today we hear from W. Stephen Gunter, Ph.D.,Associate Dean for Methodist Studies, E. Stanley Jones Research Professor of Evangelism and Wesleyan Studies -The Divinity School.
In June, he participated in the month-long international scholars’ consultation at Duke – Summer Wesleyan Studies Seminar. On June 7 and June 14, he gave a talk at Church of the Servant in OKC and Boston Avenue UMC in Tulsa, OK – “The Reluctant Evangelist”. Over 100 people attended each of these two events – given during the SS hour at the two respective Methodist Churches.
Summer publication project is to make significant progress on Volume 13 in the Wesley Works Project, edited by Randy Maddox and Richard Heitzenrater. The content of the volume is the polemical writings of John Wesley in connection with the Calvinists, Moravians and Roman Catholics. Stephen is also supervising ten seminary student interns in Field Education placements in southern North Carolina.
In his ‘spare time’ he is painting the exterior of his 2-story home in Durham and restaining our deck and screened porch.
Thank you for sharing.
